| Program Description |
This programme, teaches efficient and intelligent energy conversion by means of power electronics technology and electrical machines. One will study these topics analytically, numerically and experimentally in an innovative research environment. It combines contemporary technologies with classic technologies such as power semiconductor devices, electronics, electromagnetics, digital signal processors, control theory, EMC and energy technology. This gives an understanding of the technologies and scientific disciplines involved in electric energy conversion by means of power electronic converters and electric machines. Some of the important topics are Overview of power semiconductor devices, Rectifiers: Switch-mode DC-DC converters: Design, analysis and control of Step-down (Buck), Step-Up (Boost), Buck-Boost and Full-bridge topologies, Pulse-width modulation (PWM) scheme, characteristics of controllable switches, continuous and discontinuous current mode. Basic inverter concept.
