MSc. Microbiology
The MSc in Microbiology programme at GCU offers an advanced learning opportunity for students to understand the biological and chemical components of life. Throughout the duration of this course, the candidates are challenged at various levels to understand pathogenic mechanisms and utilize their learnings and skills, to bring innovations in diagnostics and treatments.
Not only does the specifically designed curriculum build the student’s theoretical knowledge, but it also encourages research and the development of practical skills. Microbiologists are revered as scientists and researchers who often play a pivotal role in helping understand infectious and chronic diseases by studying various microorganisms. They also play important roles in diagnostics, biosafety, and food technology.
With a course structure that includes subjects like Bacteriology, Virology, Biological metabolisms, Immunology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and many other allied subjects, the graduates are prepared for a successful career in clinical sciences, academics, and industrial research upon completion of the MSc programme in Microbiology from the GCU. As microbiologists, they can impact society positively, by addressing some pressing challenges, such as manufacturing biofuels, designing life-saving medical interventions, improving the way foods and drinks are processed, and providing solutions to combat pollution.
