Program Description he new-age Textiles Design program encompasses art, design, craft, and technology. Students in this field will acquire technical and conceptual skills to create soft products informed by material, purpose, and the sense of touch. A wide range of technical processes and topics including weaving, dyeing, printing, embellishment, surface design, felting, sewing, quilting, garment construction, knitting, crochet, laser cutting, digital print and pattern design. Students are encouraged to discover new ways of working through material experimentation. With the guidance of faculty, students develop an individualized language of colour, pattern and texture, both planar and sculptural in form. Traditional and non-traditional methods of creation, and an interdisciplinary approach to technology (fabrication and production), are integrated into the program. A textile design degree can lead to multiple creative careers. The curriculum inculcates critical thinking and professional skills that give graduates great flexibility and many options as their careers unfold. Career options include Art Educator, Colour and Trim Designer, Costume Designer, Fashion Accessories Designer, Furniture Designer, Museum Textile Restoration, Prop Designer, Surface Designer, Textile Designer, Tile Designer, Visual Merchandiser, Weaving Artist etc.
Admission & entry requirements Sr. Secondary (10+2) with minimum 45% marks. CEED/ NID/ NIFT qualified students will be preferred. Admission through Aptitude Test & Interview.
