Program Description It is offered in the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur and College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, Wayanad. The duration of the programme is two years. The admission to M.V.Sc. course is through an entrance examination and the interview conducted by the University. 25% of seats in each department is earmarked for ICAR candidates who qualify entrance examination conducted by ICAR and advised to the KVASU. Moreover, seats are available in specific departments for candidates sponsored by Animal Husbandry Department (AHD), Government of Kerala and Central Government, and in resident positions. Intending candidates will have to submit their application through online. The hard copy of the same has to be submitted through the Head of Department within the stipulated time and should attach certificate of sponsorship and experience from the employer concerned. They should also satisfy the required qualification for admission. The expenditure towards the Post Graduate programme of such students will be met by the sponsoring agency or the student.
Admission & entry requirements Campus allotment is based on rank and facilities available in each college. Campus once allotted by the University will be final and will not be changed. Number of seats may increase at the time of admission subject to the availability offaculty at vacancy in department concerned. Change of discipline will not be considered after the 15th working day from the date of commencement of the PG programme. The re-allotment of discipline will not be given to candidates who have been admitted for the PG programme and subsequently applied for the extension of joining time/ temporary discontinuance. Maximum age limit shall be 40 years for General category and 45 years for SC/ST category. There is a provision for supplementary seats to the Departmental Candidates and a relaxation of age upto 49 years. Students awaiting results can also apply. They should produce attested copy of the final mark list on or before 02.08.2019. Eligibility of the M.V.Sc. Programme is Bachelor's degree in Veterinary and Animal Sciences recognized by the University with an OGPA of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of 50% marks in traditional system. For SC/ST candidates the OGPA shall be 5.5/10 or equivalent. In addition to the existing M.V.Sc. Programme, University undertakes Residency system for M.V.Sc programmes. A few seats as per the requirements in both colleges for M.V.Sc. are reserved for this programme. The selection for Residency programme will be done based on option and merit of the candidate. M.V.Sc. Residency Programme has been introduced from the Academic year 2014-15 onwards in subjects which comes under the areas of Clinical, Para clinical, Livestock and Poultry Production and Dairy Technology. During the first four semesters the student can register 40 credits of course (Jr. Residency). Maximum credit load per semester shall not exceed 12 excluding non-credited courses. In 5th and 6th semester the student can register 10 credits of research (Sr. Residency). Sr. Residency can be extended to 4th and 5th year based on the recommendation from the Head of hospital and Dean concerned and approval from the University.
