Program Description The Aeronautical Engineering, as a separate scientific discipline, has roots in man’s attempt to fly like birds. The first ever successful event towards the fulfillment of the dream was the flying machine invented by Wright Brothers in 1903. Rapid growth in various engineering discipline has a profound influence on Aeronautical Engineering. Today Aeronautical Engineering encompasses aerodynamics, propulsion, structural engineering, thermodynamics, control and avionics, rocketry and space technology and has become multi-disciplinary in nature. The objective is to make the department a centre of excellence in different areas of aeronautics; to build a strong base for research, development and consultancy services involving faculty and students to impart quality education to students, enabling them to become skilled and talented engineers and managers. The course aims at covering various concepts of Aeronautical Engineering to prepare the students to take up challenging positions in the aeronautical industry. Graduates in this discipline will find ample employment avenues in Aircraft Design & Production, Civil Aviation, Airport Management, Aircraft Maintenance and Defense applications. In the coming decades, the civil aviation industry as well as space related activities are bound to grow manifold and there will be a great demand for engineers in these disciplines.
