| Program Description |
The syllabus of the revised MA English Programme has been designed in such a way that it maintains the standard of the syllabi of English Programmes in other national and international universities of repute.
The MA English Programme aims to generate an interest in literature, inculcate a spirit of critical enquiry and develop analytical and creative faculties among the learners. The Programme begins with a basic introduction to English literature, its various sources and forms. However, as the Semesters progress, new areas of literature and literary studies including Criticism and Theory are also introduced. The Programme
also includes compulsory courses on Language and Linguistics, Indian English Literature and American Literature. In the 4th Semester, the learners will also get an opportunity to take an optional course out of the two courses-Modern European Literature and Literature from North-East India (in English and Translation).

After successfully completing the MA English Programme, the learners will be able to:
Serve as a teacher/lecturer/assistant professor in educational institutions.
Enter the research field by applying for a Ph.D Programme in English in any university including KKHSOU.
Pursue a career in Mass Communication and Journalism.
Find a job in Publishing as well as in translation agencies as a copywriter, editor and proof reader.

| Admission & entry requirements |
Master of Arts (MA) (Assamese, English, Education, Political Science, Sociology, Economics) Eligibility Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University with the subjects at Bachelor at Bachelor Level. Candidates having B.Ed. Degree are eligible to get admission in MA Education. Duration 2 years (4 Semesters).
