| Program Description |
The course aims at enabling the learners to have an overall theoretical understanding of certain fundamental concepts of political existence and acquaint them to the actual dynamics of the political processes and events at various levels of political life. Accordingly, the learners will be able to gain an understanding of some key concepts such as the meaning of Political Science and politics, various approaches to the study of Political Science, state, sovereignty, public administration, politics in India, etc. Over and above these topics, the learners opting for the Major course will get an insight into some very important areas, such as, international politics, political systems of some select countries, contemporary political issues, political thought, human rights and political development in Assam, the latter intended to impart knowledge of political events taking place at a more
local level.
This programme is offered both for Major and Pass courses.
Career Prospects :
Political Science can be opted as an optional subject in various competitive examinations conducted for recruitment to posts under both the State and Central Governments.
Political Science also helps learners to gain theoretical understanding of various socio-economic issues. The knowledge gained would help the learners to explore job
opportunities in the NGO sector
