The Dept. of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest and most respected in the South India, consistently achieving high ratings for teaching quality and research. The department offers BE (Mechanical Engineering), ME (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), ME Thermal Engineering), and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering [Regular and Part time]. The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty. The objective of department is to prepare students for successful career in Industry, Research and Academics to meet the needs of growing technology. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is internationally renowned for high quality research. At present, seventy research scholars are pursuing towards their Ph.D. degree.The faculty members are grouped under three broad specializations - Design, Manufacturing and Thermal & Fluids Engineering. The department has students Association called “ The Federal Association of Mechanical Engineering (FAME)”. FAME organizes various activities like lectures by distinguished practitioners, competitions and MECHARNIC, the annual festival of the Dept of Mechanical Engineering. The department also has Energy club and Ideation and Innovation club to support the students activities.In this academic year (2016-17) 8 industrial trips, 13 guest lectures, two workshops, state level quiz competition, 5 training programme in collaboration with Autodesk and PTC were organised. 343 students of our department underwent inplant training in this academic year. In MECHARNIC 2K17 various competitions were conducted, 2345 participants and 17,890 visitors visited the exhibitions, Auto show and other events. We also organized International Conference on Renewable Energy, Materials for sustainability on 20,21 of October, 2016.
Our graduates are working in Multinational Companies, Defense Services, and Academic Institutions in India and abroad.
