The Department of Mathematics has been in existence right from the inception of the Noorul Islam College of Engineering. Twelve members are Ph.D holders and two members are doing Ph.D programs. The Department offers programs such as M.Sc., M.Phil (Full Time) and Ph.D.(Full Time & Part Time). NET and SLET exam coaching is given to the students of our department on all working days.
The Department has experts in the fields of Graph Theory, Operations Research, Optimization Techniques, Stochastic Processes, Inventory Control and Supply Chain Management. They have published eight papers in peer reviewed journals and presented three papers in the national conferences. Five guest lectures were arranged to provide adequate exposure to the students in the latest fields of Mathematics.
Prof. Dr. S. Ramachandran of the department has been elected as a fellow of the institute of “Combinatorics and its Applications”. He is also elected as a Reviewer for Mathematical Reviews published by the American Mathematical Society R.I, USA.
Prof. The department has organized a two day workshop on “LaTeX”. Department conducted an Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition. The Science Club of the Department of Mathematics has conducted competitions such as Mathematics Olympiad, Minute to Win it and Poster Presentation on “Contributions of Great Mathematicians”. Twenty of our alumni are placed in reputed educational institutions.
