| Program Description |
The full-time two years academic program is aimed for biology majors who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of microbiology. The major themes include microbial classification, role of microorganisms in disease and on possible application of microorganisms in diverse fields of biochemistry, clinical, immunology, genetics, molecular biology, medicine, agriculture and ecology. Academic activities include interaction with highly experienced faculty and opportunities to conduct research under their mentorship, understanding and evaluation of scientific papers, learning advanced microbiological techniques, hands-on training and developing perspective of microbiology from public health standpoint.
Facilities: Laboratory/Library Facilities: There is a well-equipped M.Sc. practical laboratory with Digital Weighing Balance, Laminar Air-flow, Compound Microscope with LED Illumination, Bacteriological Incubator, Bactec 9050, Water Bath, Distillation Unit, Autoclave, Digital pH Meter, Hot Air Oven, PCR, Deep freezer, Gel Electrophoresis Unit, Vortex Machine, Hot Plate, Centrifuge, UV- Transilluminator and other necessary facilities. A Library exists that holds text and reference books relevant to the course curriculum.
